Privacy policy

This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Michael Hofer ("I", "me").

What I collect

  • Email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter or request the Top 10 Rules PDF. This is the only personal information the site asks you for.

  • Usage data, collected automatically by the hosting platform and analytics service: pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and referring site. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

  • Cookies set by the hosting platform for site functionality and by the analytics service to distinguish visits. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work.

How I use it

  • To send you the PDF you requested and the newsletter you subscribed to.

  • To understand which pages are read so I can improve the site.

I do not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone. I do not use it for any purpose other than the newsletter and the download you asked for.

Who processes the data

The site is hosted on Squarespace. The newsletter is sent through Squarespace. Analytics are provided by Squarespace. Each of these processes data on my behalf under its own privacy policy and security commitments. Links to Amazon and LinkedIn take you to those companies' sites, which have their own policies.

Your choices and rights

  • Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes you from the list.

  • You can ask me to see, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you by emailing michael@bymichaelhofer.com. I will respond within 30 days.

  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a US state with a consumer privacy law, you have additional rights under those laws, including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Data retention and security

Email addresses are kept for as long as you remain subscribed. Aggregated analytics are kept for up to 26 months. The site is served over HTTPS, and the providers above maintain their own security programs.

Children

This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will be updated and, for subscribers, a note will be included in the next newsletter.
